Description
Français : Pour la navigation maritime, le clocher de l’ église Saint-Etienne d’ Ars-en-Ré (le clocher d’ Ars) est un point remarquable et bien identifiable. Il est utilisé comme amer et permet, par exemple, aux marins qui évoluent dans le Pertuis Breton de localiser facilement le port d’ Ars-en-Ré. Le clocher d’Ars est un des principaux amers de l’ Île de Ré et le plus célèbre. Construit au XVème siècle, ce clocher, de style gothique, est formé d’une flèche de pierre octogonale à crochets. Cette flèche est peinte en deux couleurs depuis le XIXème siècle: en blanc jusqu’ à mi-hauteur puis en noir jusqu’au sommet. Le blanc est encore visible dans obscurité et le noir peut être vu dans un ciel pâle. Le clocher de l’ église Saint-Etienne mesure une quarantaine de mètres de haut.
