Vue du grand escalier du musée Jacquemart-André et de la fresque de Tiepolo en haut à gauche (détail) Édouard André (1833-1894), Nélie Jacquemart (1841-1912), Henri Parent (1819-1895) Le musée a été inauguré le 10 décembre 1913. Émile Berteaux a été le premier directeur du musée. Conçu par l'architecte Henri Parent, (qui a construit boulevard Hausmann, l'hôtel particulier d'Édouard André de 1869 à 1876) cet escalier est une construction féerique, d'une légèreté surprenante malgré la densité des matériaux qui le composent : le marbre, la pierre, le fer, le bronze. Il s'élève jusqu'à une corniche arrondie qui en prolonge les courbes. Le jeu des miroirs le reflète sur tous les murs et porte l'illusion à son comble. Pour parachever le décor de cet escalier d’honneur, les époux Jacquemart-André ont placé cette très grande fresque peinte par Giambattista Tiepolo pour la villa Contarini en Vénétie où ils l’ont découverte et achetée en 1893....
