Description

La main de la statue représentant Charles de Bonchamps sur son tombeau

Le tombeau de Charles de Bonchamps (1760-1793), général du soulèvement vendéen, a été sculpté par David d'Angers (1788- 1856) dont le père avait été gracié par C. de Bonchamps lors des guerres de Vendée.

Le général est représenté, blessé à mort, levant la main pour ordonner le18 octobre 1793, la grâce des prisonniers républicains.
