L'enseigne du salon de thé appartenant initialement à Miss Kate Cranston (situé sur "Sauchiehall street") décoré en 1903 par Mackintosh. Le salon de thé a été restauré et accueille à nouveau le public dans les décors et mobiliers créés par Mackintosh. Les armoiries de Glasgow comportent un arbre, un oiseau, une cloche et un poisson, dont on retrouve des éléments sur cette enseigne. Charles Rennie Mackintosh (1868-1928) est un architecte, peintre et designer, né à Glasgow, qui est considéré comme un des principaux précurseurs du mouvement moderne. Avec Margaret Macdonald, qui est devenue son épouse en 1900, son ami Herbert McNair et son épouse Frances Macdonald, la soeur de Margaret, tous issus de la "Glasgow School of Art", il a constitué un groupe d'artistes très novateurs pour l'époque appelé "The Four", influencé par l'Art Nouveau, le Symbolisme et par le mouvement anglais "Arts and Crafts". en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Willow_Tearooms |
