Leo Hansen med sit filmapparat på Danske Øen i Østcanada. Leo Hansen var fotograf på Knud Rasmussens 5. Thuleekspedition, hvor han både fotograferede og filmede. På billedet er Leo Hansen iført en yderpels af rensdyrskind, som var indsamlet hos canadiske inuit. Derimod er bukserne af isbjørneskind og sælskindstøvlerne lavet i Nordgrønland og bæltet er europæisk. Frynserne nederst på yderpelsen forhindrede kulde og sne i at komme ind under dragten. Leo Hansen with his camera on Danske Øen in East Canada. Leo Hansen was a photographer on Knud Rasmussen’s 5th Thule-expedition and shot both films and photos. In this picture he is wearing one of the a parka of caribou skin collected from the Canadian Inuit. In contrast his polar bear trousers and sealskin boots were made in North Greenland and the belt is European. The fringes at the lower hem of the parka should prevent snow and cold to seep under the garment. |
