Chinese mosaic fur-carpet

Teppich., chinesische Arbeit. Jedenfalls aus dem oberen Yangtsetale stammend, wo besonders derartige Arbeiten in bunten Mustern ausgeführt werden. In der Mitte ein Leopard. Der Grund ist graue Ziege auf welche ein Teil der Figuren aufgefärbt ist, während die kleineren, aus grauer Katze, eingenäht sind.
Carpette. Travail chinois se falsant principaliment dans valleé du Yang-tsé. Au mileu, ou remarque un léopard. Le fond est en chévre grise sur lequel on a teinté des figures; d'autres sont faites avec du chat gris et cousues dedans.

Chinese Mosaic Carpet. The carpet is an execution of the natives who dwell in the Jiang si Kiang vallee. In the centre we find a leopard. The field is made from grey goat-skins whereon are painted varios figures, the other parts are made and sewn in from grey cats-skins.
