Español: La paga de los segadores. El hombre de la guadaña, amigo de Lhermitte, y modelo en muchos de sus cuadros, lleva amarrada al cinto una vasija de cerámica/alfarería habitual en las labores del campo, una cantimplora o barril. También llamado: Barril de media luna, barril de pastor, barril de carro y barril de planchudo. Recipiente de tendencia globular cerrado en la parte superior con un pequeño y delgado cuello que en su extremo tiene un orificio de entrada y salida ara el líquido. Puede llevar una o dos asas a los lados del cuello.
