Deutsch: 3: Liebesrausch. Der zweite Akt der Oper beginnt mit einem Selbstgespräch der Delila, in dem sie ihren Entschluss kundgibt, Simson, der ihr ein Stelldichein versprochen hat, durch Liebe zu betören; er, der Stärkste von allen, der sein Volk aus der Knechtschaft befreit, solle einem Weibe erliegen. Der Oberpriester Dagons naht. Er verspricht Delila den höchsten Lohn, wenn sie Simson in die Macht der Philister liefere. Sie erklärt, dass sie das Geld verschmähe. Nur Rache beseele sie. Als der Priester sich entfernt hat, erscheint Simson, und das schöne Weib bietet Schmeichelei wie auch Thränen auf, ihm sein Geheimnis zu entreissen. |
