Description
Deutsch: 4: Der Ritt zum Abgrund. Faust: »Schmerzlich tönt mir im Herzen der Armen wehvoll Klagen.«
Faust erfährt durch Mephistopheles, daß Margarete sich im Kerker befindet, als Mörderin zum Tode verurteilt, da die Mutter von der Tochter eine versehentlich zu stark ausgefallene Gabe Schlafpulver erhalten hat. Mephistopheles will Margarete retten, falls Faust einen Pakt unterschreibt mit der Klausel »daß du von morgen an mir dienst«. Faust tut das; dann reiten beide auf Höllenhengsten davon.
