Description
Deutsch: 5: Die Wüste. Assad, dem die abziehende Königin in einer Fata Morgana erscheint: »Segen über Sulamith !«
Assad, von der Todesstrafe begnadigt, aber verfehmt und verbannt, will in der Wüste den Tod erwarten. Dort sucht ihn die Königin von Saba auf, nochmals ihn verlockend: er möge sie begleiten, ohne ihn könne sie nicht leben. Nun jedoch stösst er die Falsche von sich und verflucht sie. In der Ferne erscheint als Luftspiegelung der Zug, der sie heimführt.
