Deutsch: 2: Ximene: »Wer erschlug mir mein Glück ? Du, Rodrigo !« Der künftige Cid - sein wahrer Name lautete Ruy (Rodrigo) Diaz de Vivar, in der Oper heißt er Rodrigo - erachtet es als seine Ritterpflicht, die Beleidigung des Vaters zu ahnden. Er sucht den Grafen Gormaz auf, zwingt ihn, der als der beste Fechter gilt, dem sich niemand zum Streit stellt, zum Zweikampf, und Gormaz fällt. Mit Entsetzen vernimmt Ximene, daß der Geliebte ihr den Vater getötet hat. Sie ruft des Königs Blutbann gegen Rodrigo an. |
