Description
English: Army Vetinary Corps

Lieutenant Jones was born in Liverpool in 1888 and trained as a veterinary surgeon at the University of Liverpool.

He was gazetted to the Army Veterinary Corps Reserve in November 1911 and attached to 2 Dragoon Guards.

At the outbreak of war, Lt Jones was appointed Veterinary Officer in charge of 25 Brigade, Royal Field Artillery and posted to the Western Front.

During the Battle of the Aisne, he was seriously wounded by shell fire which shattered his leg.

He died three days later on 17 September 1914, aged 25, at No 2 General Hospital, Versailles.
