| Description |
Nederlands: Eind 2010 heeft het Amsterdam Museum dit historische trambordje in de collectie opgenomen. Het bordje hing in tram 8, in de volksmond de ‘jodentram’ geheten, omdat die door alle Amsterdamse buurten reed waar Joden woonden. In 1942 werd de lijn opgeheven. Dit kwam niet alleen door personeelschaarste, maar het was ook een direct gevolg van het verbod door de Duitse bezetters voor Amsterdamse Joden om van het openbaar vervoer gebruik te maken. Door dit besluit verloor lijn 8 het grootste deel van haar reizigers. Na het afschaffen werd het spoor gebruikt om Joden op transport naar de concentratiekampen te zetten. Om die reden heeft Amsterdam tot op de dag van vandaag geen tram 8 meer gekend. |
