Français : "Échoppe du tisserand", fin XIVe siècle à Limeuil, Dordogne, France. La porte d'entrée en bois donne sur la pièce destinée à abriter le métier à tisser. Une large ouverture assure l'éclairage indispensable pour travailler. Composée d'un étal en bois pour exposer les marchandises et d'un auvent pour les abriter elle permet au tisserand de surveiller, tout en travaillant, à la fois son étal et la rue pour interpeller le chaland et engager la conversation avec lui, quand l'occasion se présente. L'acheteur ne pénétrait jamais dans une échoppe mais se tenait pendant toute la durée de la négociation devant l'étal où l'artisan pouvait éventuellement venir le rejoindre. |
