Description
English: Lincoln St Marks railway station (site), Lincolnshire
Opened in 1846 by the Midland Railway company, this station closed in 1985 when all train services were re-routed into Lincoln Central station. View west, with the former main buildings (Grade II Listed) to the right of the image, now built into a retail complex. Little has changed compared to SK9770 : Lincoln St Marks railway station, Lincolnshire, 1983 - except the cars! To the left of the image, the building with the white pillars is a later addition - this is where 4 railway tracks crossed the street at one time. Behind, where the upper storey now is, was an overall roof on two spans, demolished in 1957.
