Linda Wells, wife of Lin Wells, took this image for his Bio page at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linton_Wells_II I had previously submitted a proper portrait take at Shepherd University and attached a release letter for free and completely unrestricted use signed by the owner of the image, his university. The result was that his existing image from 2003 was removed from his page, and the Deletion entry said it was because a new image (the Shepherd image) had been submitted to Wikimedia Commons and was awaiting approval. That effort, regrettably, went into a black hole so I'm trying again. Both images, the nice one from last November and this one have impeccable credentials and both are freely and completely released for unrestricted use by their originators. Please either put this image on the page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linton_Wells_II or restore the much nicer portrait from last November so we can get rid of the one that is almost 20 years old. Thank you very much. // Eric The November image from Shepherd was accompanied by this email: Forwarded message --------- From: Valerie Owens <vowens@shepherd.edu> Date: Mon, Nov 18, 2019 at 11:45 AM Subject: Permission to use photo To: linwells@gmail.com <linwells@gmail.com> To: Dr. Linton Wells From: Shepherd University November 18, 2019 Shepherd University gives Dr. Linton Wells nonexclusive, comprehensive rights to use the attached photo for whatever purpose he deems necessary. Can you please put that image back where it was in November? I love Wikipedia, and the editorial process, but you are sometimes a bit tough to navigate. // Eric |
