Summary
editDescriptionLoch nan Uamh Viaduct - geograph.org.uk - 369982.jpg |
English: Loch nan Uamh Viaduct Opened in 1901, this 8 arched concrete viaduct was built to carry the West Highland railway across the valley of the Beasdale Burn at the head of Loch nan Uamh. The line was absorbed into the North British Railway on 31 December 1908 and remains in use. In 2001, specially commissioned scans of the bridge confirmed the existence within the fabric of the large central pier of a horse and cart, which had fallen into the cavity of the pier during construction. Until this time, it had not been certain at which bridge this accident had occurred. |
