| Description |
English: Lochranza castle and the massive Tor nead. The mountain is made half of Hornfels and half of granite. The Granite is from the central intrusion that formed the Igneous heart. This pushed up the sedimentary beds (like a spot on skin) resulting in the beds near the intrusion being baked by the heat. This created the Hornfels, basically very high grade thermal metamorphic rock. |
