Title
English: Log home of Benson Northup, ca. 1889
Description
English: In the mid-1880s, Benson L. Northup was a Seattle city councilman and a teacher at Denny School. Sometime before 1890, the family moved back to the old Northup homestead in the Houghton area, north of present-day Bellevue and now part of Kirkland.

This photo shows the Northups' log home in 1889 or 1890, with the family standing outside. Their house is built with hewn logs fitted together at the corners. It has glass windows and a lean-to addition of finished lumber at the back.
