Logo of the Oost-Afrikaansche Compagnie

Summary edit

Description
English: The logo of the Oost-Afrikaansche Compagnie, ca. 1886. The logo features the name of the company, where it is based (Rotterdam Holland) and the signature of H.P.N. Muller, who was the co-head of the company. The middle part of the logo is missing, but it appears that the logo may have featured ethnographic objects from Mozambique, possibly from Muller's own collection. This logo was found on the object RV-5833-1 in the collection of the Wereldmuseum Leiden. The logo is attached to a sample of a trade textile from Manchester offered for sale in Quelimane, Mozambique.
