Description
English: London: Tower of St. Mary Somerset church St. Mary Somerset was a medieval church that was destroyed in the Fire of 1666, but rebuilt afterwards by Wren. But by the 1860s the parish had lost so much population that authority was obtained to demolish the church and amalgamate the parish with St. Nicholas Cole to the north. The tower alone was saved after the invention of a local architect, and remains today. To see it, cross the Millennium Bridge from the south side, walk straight up Peter's Hill, and you will see the above view through a gap on the right.
