Description
English: Longbeech Wood. Longbeech Wood is a huge area (four or five square kilometres) of woodland on top of the North Downs above Charing, classified by the Forestry Commission as a plantation on an Ancient Woodland Site, it comprises a mixture of species including Sweet Chestnut, Norway Spruce, Corsican Pine and Japanese larch. Planting took place between 1957 and 1989. It is designated a Site of Nature Conservation Interest (SNCI) and an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). There are no public rights of way within the wood but this picture was taken from Monkery Lane which cuts through it north of the A252.
