| Description |
English: Looking from England into... England! It is a common misconception that the main span of the Severn Bridge takes one into Wales. It doesn't. This is taken from the eastern end, in the 'CUBA' area (the County that Used to Be Avon), while the other shore is in fact part of Gloucestershire. There is no motorway junction in this Gloucestershire isthmus, however, so as a motorist the next you know is when you have crossed the Wye, when you have sure enough arrived in Wales.
Under the actual towers of the bridge, the walkway sticks out above the river hence this deceptive angle is available. |
