English: Lord Hill's Column. This fine Doric column, 132 ft high, built in 1814, commemorates Lord Rowland Hill (1772 - 1842) who served under Wellington in the Peninsular War and at Waterloo. The modern building beyond is the Shropshire Shire Hall.
