Summary edit

Description Lot-1822-21: Marine Corps Base, Parris Island, South Carolina, May 1942. Putting the Indian sign on Axis dive bombers and strafing planes. This barrage balloon under control of a Marine unit in training at Parris Island is part of a plane trap that protects important ground installations. Planes cannot come close to any of a number of these balloons, swaying in a tactical formation, with steel cables trailing, without the danger of shearing off wings. Office of War Information.
