Summary edit

Description Lot-4081-1: WWII-Homefront. American Red Cross Helps Rehabilitate U.S. Servicemen. A volunteer worker in the Recreation Unit of the American Red Cross sketches designs for leather articles which the returned servicemen, who watch her work, will make as they recuperate from battle wounds or fatigue in an Eastern U.S. military hospital. Teachers in this volunteer unit of the American Red Cross are professional artists and craftsmen who donate a few hours of their time each week in military hospitals all over the U.S. to help returned servicemen bridge the gap between hospital ward and the world of activity and responsibility to which they must return.
