Description Lot-805-33 (42797): Operation Husky - Invasion of Sicily, 9 July – August 17, 1943. As the British Fought Their Way Up Sicily’s East Coast, July 1943. A group of British Army and Navy officers, and an American observer, Commander Walter Chappell, USNR, (standing left), liason officer with the Eighth Army, watch landing parties pour in as they stand at a beach signal station, where the British flag has just been planted.
