Description Lot-9437-2: Inventor Demonstrates “Blackout Box”. Les De Forest, famous U.S. radio wizard, has invented a blackout box which if attached to your radio station will automatically turn out lights, set off a warning siren or bells, when the station goes off the air during a blackout. Members of the Los Angeles, California, Defense Council, are considering adapting his invention, circa January-February 1942. Office of War Information photograph. (2015/11/20).
