Summary edit

Description Lot 11559-26: Atlantic Convoys. Found by the Coast Guard. Straining numb fingers, officers of a torpedoed British merchant ship grimly clamor aboard a sub-hunting Coast Guard Cutter. Hoping that the men would still be alive in the freezing water when she came back, the fighting Coast Guard ship had to leave them while she sped off to contact to a German U-Boat. The Englishmen understood and did not complain to the Coast Guardsmen when they returned, 1942. Office of War Information photograph. (2016/01/29).
