Summary edit

Description Lot 5422-10: USS Cassin (DD 43), port view while running at 3 knots, probably during sea trials, 1913. In October 1917, she was attacked by German submarine U 61 off Ireland. Gunner’s Mate First Class Osmond Ingram was killed during the attack in an attempt to save the destroyer. Ingram later posthumously received the Medal of Honor for his actions. After repairs and service with the Treasury Department, she was decommissioned and sold for scrap in August 1934. Collection of Secretary of the Navy Josephus Daniels. (9/11/2015).
