Description Lot 9428-12: A Typical Hero’s Welcome for U.S. Naval Aviator O’Hare. From the rear seat of an automobile, Lieutenant Commander Edward H. O’Hare, U.S. Navy pilot who shot down five Japanese aircraft while damaging a six on February 20, 1942. He later received the Medal of Honor for this action. O’Hare was lost during a night mission on November 26, 1943. In memory of the fallen aviator, Chicago's Orchard Depot Airport was renamed O'Hare International Airport in September 1949.
