| Description | Lot 9439-22: From the Arsenal of Democracy: Arms to Beat the Axis. On every battlefront in the world, the Axis is beginning to feel the full weight of arms from America – “arsenal of democracy” which are arriving in ever-increasing numbers to supply to the United Nations. These pictures are stirring evidence of the tide turning. They show that America is fulfilling her promise to produce the Axis out of existence. Convoys like this one in a big American harbor are carrying America’s answer to Axis. The Navy gunner in the foreground stands by ready to battle submarines lurking on the ocean highways.
