English: Lower Burston Bridge, Trent and Mersey Canal, Staffordshire The Bridge number (85, counting from Derwent Mouth)is on a plate above the original number (90) carved into the masonry. I am unaware exactly when the bridges were renumbered to reflect the withdrawal from service of several original 18th century farm access bridges (probably damaged or rarely used lift/swing bridges). |
