Description

"The highland village of Lukomir is perhaps the finest example of the highland villages. It is the HIGHEST and MOST ISOLATED [emphasis mine] permanent settlement in the country at 1,469 m (4,500 ft.). The traditional architecture of the village has been deemed by the Historical Architecture Society of the United Kingdom as one of the last remaining functional villages in all of Europe. The stone homes with cherrywood roof shingles mark a practice that can no longer be found on Bjela?nica."
