Description
English: 1937 Saint James the Greater Parish Church of Lupao - at Barangay Poblacion South, Lupao, Nueva Ecija [1] -- Titular: St. James the Apostle Parish Priest: Father Arleen Ragasa Year of Establishment: 1937 [2] It belongs to the Roman Catholic Diocese of San Jose in the Philippines[3] James, son of Zebedee (Aramaic Yaʕqov, Greek Ιάκωβος, died 44 AD) was one of the Twelve Apostles of Jesus. He was a son of Zebedee and Salome, and brother of John the Apostle. He is also called James the Greater to distinguish him from James, son of Alphaeus, who is also known as James the Less.[4][5] Coordinates: 15°52'37"N 120°53'54"E [6] [7] The son of Zebedee and Salome (Cf. Matthew 27:56; Mark 15:40; 16:1). Zahn asserts that Salome was the daughter of a priest. James is styled "the Greater" to distinguish him from the Apostle James "the Less", who was probably shorter of stature. We know nothing of St. James's early life. He was the brother of John, the beloved disciple, and probably the elder of the two. [8] St. James the Greater Apostle[9] In 1937, the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart (MSC) from Holland came to Lupao. There was no Catholic Church and convent at that time so Fr. Reinier Van Glansbeek, a Dutch missionary and the first parish priest, had to stay with a local family until a small church and convent was built. From 1938-2001, there were seventeen MSC priests who served the town of Lupao, the last of whom was Rev. Jesus Dumaual. On May 22, 2001, the administration of the parish and Sacred Heart Academy was turned over to the diocesan clergy. Msgr. Rolando Mabutol was installed by Most Rev. Leo M. Drona, SDB, DD as the first diocesan parish priest of Lupao and Fr. Ernie P. Pesimo as parochial vicar. On May 10, 2009 during the clergy reshuffle, Rev. Fr. Arleen P. Ragasa was installed as the new parish priest of St. James the Great. From SM City Baliuag, Bulacan at 8:55 a.m., today, May 6, 2013, Monday, I arrived at the Science City of Munoz, Nueva Ecija to photograph its Church, the Town hall again since my night photos months ago were not too good as the sunny pictures today, at 1:27 p.m.; then I photographed Lupao, Nueva Ecija at 2:46 p.m, and finished the City Hall of San Jose City, Nueva Ecija for this 2nd times since it is finished as new City hall from the still being contructed building months ago. I finished photography at 5:03 p.m. From there, it took me 6 hours to go back to Bulacan and began uploading this photos to Commons at about 11 p.m.]
