English: Scene at Auerbach's tavern; in the centre, sitting on a table with his legs jauntily crossed and holding a sword in his folded arms, Mephistopheles addresses a group of men who are amazed by a fire burning on the floor, into which gushes wine issuing from the table, both magical tricks played on them by Mephistopheles who is accompanied by Faust; implements hang from a ceiling lamp. 1827
