Description

American Cold War era Main Battle Tank Built (M48):- 1952 to 1959 Total Production (M48):- 12,000 In service (M48):- 1953 to 1990s (USA) Total M48A3 conversions (from M48):- 600 Main Armament:- 90mm T54 gun The M48 was designed as a replacement for the M47 Patton II as well as remaining M4 Shermans. Some 12,000 were built and were used by several NATO countries. Starting from 1963, six hundred M48A3s were converted from standard M48s by fitting a diesel engine. This resolved much of the fire risk associated with the type. On display in what is best known as Hall 6 of the Kubinka Tank Museum, although its official title is now Pavilion 6 in Area 2 of the Park Patriot museum. Kubinka, Moscow Oblast, Russia.
