Description
Deutsch: Straßburg ( Elsass ). Archäologisches Museum: Römisches Grabstele ( 4.Jhdt ) für den Kavalleristen Lepontius aus der Rue Brûlée (Straßburg). Lepontius könnte ein Angehöriger der in Straßburg stationierten Legio VIII Augusta gewesen sein. Das Original wurde 1737 in Straßburg gefunden. Dieser Gipsabguss wurde vor 1870 gefertigt. Seitdem das Original während der Belagerung von Straßburg zerstört wurde, besitzt diese Kopie den selben Wert wie die ursprüngliche Stele.
English: Strasbourg ( Alsace ). Archaeological Museum: Ancient Roman grave monument ( 4th century AD ) for soldier Lepontius from Rue Brûlée (Strasbourg). This is a plaster cast made before 1870. Since the original stele was destroyed during the Siege of Strasbourg, this replica has the same value as the original work.
