Description
English: CIRCA 1790 EAST JERSEY COTTAGE BESIDE THE MORRIS CANAL; COLLINS WAS AN IRISH IMMIGRANT AND FOUGHT IN THE REVOLUTION. HE AND HIS SON WERE EXPERT CARPENTERS AND BUILT MANY OF THE BRIDGES BETWEEN JERSEY CITY AND EASTON.

REF. # 72002228. THIS PICTURE, POOR AS IT IS, MIGHT BE OF GALLERY USE BECAUSE IT SHOWS THE HISTORIC COLLINS HOUSE RIGHT BESIDE THE MORRIS CANAL IN BROOMFIELD AND WAS INTIMATELY ASSOCIATED WITH THE BUILDING OF THE CANAL. PRESENTLY THE HOUSE STANDS IN THE MIDDLE OF A CITY DUMP AND THAT IS PROBABLY WHY IT IS PARTIALLY COVERED OVER.
