Description

Sadly, Bruce McLaren died in a testing accident while developing the Mk 8D. The rear of the body came loose, the aerodynamic forces that were pushing the car onto the road were disrupted and the car went out of control. McLaren was killed instantly. Peter Revson (#48) joined Dennis Hulme (#5) in the McLaren team and they continued their domination of the Canadian American Challenge Cup series. But Porsche had arrived, with the 4.5 litre 917, and the next year they'd turbocharge it. Over 1000 HP per ton of weight. So this was the last all-conquering McLaren sports car, and the last that Bruce McLaren had a hand in. . McLaren and Hulme had alternated series wins for 5 years in a row...
