Summary edit

Description
English: Capital in the vieringscrypte ("crossing crypt"), one of four crypts in the Basilica of Saint Servatius in Maastricht, the Netherland. The crypt was largely reconstructed by Pierre Cuypers in 1881, after it had been demolished in the early 19th century. Only the lower parts are original. The Romanesque Revival capitals were modelled after two capitals found in the rubble of the demolished crypt. The original for this capital is now exhibited in the East Crypt lapidarium and dates from the mid 12th century.
