Description
English: Formerly considered a portrait of Mrs. Tallien by David, the portrait was identified in 1997 by Margaret A. Oppenheimer, based on stylistic grounds and two contemporary descriptions, to the Portrait of Miss AP exhibited by Adèle Romany at the Salon of 1806 (no 457). The false signature L.DAVID FECIT ANNO 1817 was added a long time later to increase the value of the work. The Musée de la Chartreuse Chartreuse museum endorses these new identification and attribution.
