Lakosainak a száma 860. a kik mind magyarok s róm.kath. vallásúak. Lakóházak száma 169. Postája, távíró és vasúti állomása Pál-monostora. Területe a XIII. század első felében Csongrád vármegyéhez tartozott.1347-ben Becsei Tőttós mester birtoka, a ki ebben az évben tiltakozott az ellen,hogy itteni részbirtokait Csegrei Illés fiai Márton és Mihály elfoglalják. Határait13ő9-ben járta meg a budai káptalan, Nagy Lajos király rendeletére, mely alka-lommal Pál fia Miklós és Illés fia Márton, régi jog czímén átveszik e birtokokat.1374-ben az aradi káptalan a Szeri Pósafiakat iktatja be e helység birtokába.1411-ben Zsigmond kirá.y rendeletére, a kalocsai káptalan Göallyai Györgyöt,János fiát és rokonait iktatta be Pétermonostora, Pálmonostora és Móriczgáttyabirtokába. 1488-ban Zeleméri Mihály birtokában találjuk. 1848 előtt a Kecskés.Faragó és Szűcs családok voltak a helység földesurai.
