Maina Dancing Girls. Jaipur.

Summary edit

Description
English: Gobindram Oodeyram Jaipur

c. 1905 Collotype Divided back 14.15x9.00cm

This was one of Gobindram Oodeyram's most popular postcards (also called Mohamedan Dancing Girl in other versions). The hand-applied coloring is exceptional – not only the pink, the signature color of Jaipur and the firm's postcards, but also the use of black and gold as well as the blue background. This card was found in pristine shape, and gives some sense of the brightness of color favoured by customers and producers more than a century ago.
