Description U.S. Air Force Major Clyde Seiler waves as he leaves the cockpit of his North American F-100C Super Sabre fighter-bomber having just completed the 120th Tactical Fighter Squadron's 5,000 sortie, in January 1969. Seiler was killed on 27 March 1969, when a napalm canister on his plane was hit and exploded during a strafing mission near Song Be Mountain, South Vietnam. The 120th TFS, Colorado Air National Guard, was assigned to the 35th Tactical Fighter Wing at Phan Rang air base from 30 April 1968 to 19 April 1969 and lost two pilots during this period.
