WAR DEPARTMENT GETTYSBURG NATIONAL PARK COMMISSION GETTYSBURG PENNA. April 2, 1912 Col. J.P. Nicholson Chairman Dear Sir: Your letter of yesterday with copy of Col. Smiths accommodation has been received. I don’t like the action of the Va Commission at all. Instead of conceded facts they persist in pushing to the front a sentiment unnecessary, and which tends to provoke discussion of antebellum subjects and which in my opinion should be allowed to become dormant. I suggest that you take such action as you think best and I will approve. Truly yours C.A. Richardson.
