Locality: Demix-Varennes quarry, Saint-Amable sill, Varennes & St-Amable, Lajemmerais RCM, Montérégie, Québec, Canada
FOV 2.2 x 1.6 cm. Found Sept 2000. MOB coll.
This is from a hydrothermalite with abundant varennesite. Other associated minerals included zakharovite, eudialyte group, yofortierite, sphalerite and natrolite. Some natrolite terminations can be seen poking up in the center of the makatite. Some of the makatite appears as sea-green silky laths rather than just fibers. The greenish color is most noticeable in the lower part of the specimen. The ID has been confirmed visually.
This is an older single focus flash photo. It was grossly underexposed so the resulting color (after Photoshop) is too saturated.
