Ukrainian forester collecting data in Chernobyl contaminated ecosystems

| Description |
English: Here is Maksym Burianchuk, postgraduate student from NULES of Ukraine working in forest ecosystems within Chernobyl Exclusion Zone. We established temporary sample plots surveying trees and shrubs within with use of software and hardware system 'FieldMap'. Maksym holds these tools and captures distances to the trees with aim to map them in the field computer. The aim of the work was to collect ground-based data for further analysis whether soil radioactive contamination causes effects on the forest structure and composition.
Українська: Максим Бур'янчук, аспірант із НУБІП України, працює у лісових екосистемах Чорнобильської зони відчуження. Ми закладали тимчасові пробні площі з обліком дерев та чагарників за допомогою програмно-технічного комплексу "FieldMap". Максим тримає обладнання та визначає відстані до дерев, щоб закартувати їх у польовому комп'ютері. Метою роботи було зібрати польові дані для подальшого аналізу, що має встановити, чи спричиняє грунтове радіоактивне забруднення ефекти на лісову структуру та видовий склад.
