English: Banking an eastbound express out of Manchester Victoria. View eastward at Victoria East Junction, towards Stalybridge and Huddersfield etc. In spite of appearances, the LMS 2P 4-4-0 (No. 635) is receding tender-first as it banks the 15.45 Liverpool (Lime St.) - Hull express (of LNER stock), which has called at Manchester Exchange, up Miles Platting bank on its way towards Stalybridge and Standedge Tunnel. (The engine has not yet been renumbered (by addition of 40,000) as we are only six months into Nationalisation). |
