English: Manchester Victoria West Junction 1979 A Liverpool-Hull Trans-Pennine DMU passes West Junction signalbox in January 1979. The roofs of the former Manchester Exchange station can be seen above the train. Although out of use for passengers since 1968, Exchange was still heavily used for parcels and mail traffic during the night hours at this time. The DMU has a substitute leading car due to failure of the intended unit, a common occurrence at the time. |
